A Gentle Step Forward for the YPF

A lot has changed in the time since our last post, allow me to catch you up. Let’s start with a bereavement.

Remembering Martin G. Clayton

On November 5, 2023—Guy Fawkes Night—Martin G. Clayton, the founder of the Yorkshire Popular Front (YPF), passed away. Hopefully this comes as no surprise to you as plenty of time has passed since to spread the word. He’d have liked the quiet nod to history in that date. Martin was the steady hand behind our website and our mission, always focused on Yorkshire’s story and its people, encouraging us to think for ourselves and stand up for what we believe in. He didn’t seek the spotlight, and neither will this farewell. Martin, thank you— you will be missed, but we’ll carry on with the same thoughtfulness you showed us.

The YPF: Thinking, Not Shouting

The YPF has been quiet these past couple of years, but we’re still here. We’re not about loud protests or quick fixes. From the start, Martin built this as a place for careful thought—drawing on Yorkshire’s past, like the weavers and miners who stood up with reason, not just anger. We look at what’s wrong—underfunded services, distant decisions—and ask: How do we make it right? Not with noise, but with plans that work.

Where Next?

I’m still figuring this out, and that’s okay. The world’s messy—Yorkshire deserves better, and I’ve got drafts and ideas to sort through. But the YPF way isn’t to rush in. We think, we plan, we act when it counts. That’s how we’ve always done it, and it’s why people trust us to see what others miss.

What do you think? What matters to you about Yorkshire? Your ideas could help us find our next step.

Why We Keep Going

The YPF isn’t here to follow trends or start fights. We’re here because some things—fairness, a voice for Yorkshire—need defending with clear heads and steady hands. If that resonates with you, stick with us. Share your thoughts, or join us on November 5, 2024, to talk about what’s next. Together, we can build something that lasts.
